The Launch of JESUS people

We are filled with gratitude as we write this — Jesus People has officially launched!

After months of prayer, dreaming, and laying foundations, we gathered for the first time last Wednesday night. It was a beautiful, sacred evening. 25 people joined together in our home as we shared a meal, took communion together, opened the Word of God, and lingered in deep transformative worship. The room was filled with people of different ages and races — many new faces — all hungry for Jesus. We left that night so aware that this is something the Lord is building.

Our name, Jesus People, carries the heart of who we are. We want to be a people marked by encountering Jesus, following Jesus, loving Jesus, and partnering with Jesus for the reformation of the city. Our desire is to be a grassroots church — a fresh expression that reflects the ancient beauty of Acts 2. We are intentionally building in the context of deeply relational family — performance-free, centered fully on Jesus rather than a stage. We long to encounter the Person of Jesus, love one another well, contend together in prayer for our city, and reach out in tangible ways with His love and good news to those who have not yet heard.

Hope Africa Happenings

Alongside the launch of the church, we continue to see God move powerfully through the broader ministry we are part of here. At Hope Africa, where we are serving and partnering in ministry, there has been incredible fruit in recent months:

Around 30 people have accepted Christ through township ministry programs over the past couple of months.
One man stood up out of a wheelchair!
A crippled hand was healed.
The Hope Africa Bible School has been launched, and we are currently in conversations about expanding to a second location in Cape Town.
The discipleship program called EQUIP continues to grow, and we expect around 2,000 people to go through it over the next year.
